Milk tends to get all the press for helping kids grow up big and strong, but good-for-you food is an even more important part of that process – a part that some kids are often forced to do without. West Texas Food Bank is tired of seeing kids go hungry and one way we are fighting back is through Kids Cafe©. Kids Cafe© provides healthy, nutritious afternoon snacks and evening meals to needy children in after-school child care programs. Currently we are operating Kids Cafe© programs in 4 Boys and Girls Club sites in El Paso. We are partnering with the Odessa Housing Authority to begin a new program in the early spring in Odessa, and adding an additional Boys and Girls Club site in El Paso. Kids Cafe© is a program of America’s Second Harvest – the Nation’s Food Bank Network, which is the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States.
